• OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturing) — you provide the design or specification; the factory manufactures it for you, under your brand.
• ODM (Original Design Manufacturing) — the factory has already designed the product; you pick from their catalog and put your brand on it. Faster and cheaper, because no new development is needed.
• Private Label — essentially OEM or ODM products sold under your exclusive brand, usually with custom packaging. Most importers are actually doing private-label ODM when they start.

Which should you choose? If you are new, start with ODM/private label on existing styles — low risk, fast validation. Move to true OEM (new colors, new sizes, new packaging) once you know what sells i

6. MOQ, Sampling & Tooling: The Real Commercial Terms

This is the section buyers ask about most. Here are our actual policies — and while numbers vary between factories, this will give you a realistic baseline for negotiations anywhere in China.

• Regular (existing) styles: minimum 200 pieces per color, and each carton can contain no more than 4 colors. This keeps cartons manageable and lets you test several colors in one order.

6.2 Sampling Policy

• Sample fee: generally no charge for standard sampling — we want you to check quality before you commit.
